For over 15 years, Brenda has assisted numerous research institutions and academic programs working in public health, global health, and life sciences. Brenda’s current and past clients include the University of Massachusetts-Boston; the Forum for Collaborative Research at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, where she also served as Deputy Director; Howard University (HU) College of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology; the Center for Hemoglobin Research in Minorities (CHaRM) at Howard University; the BNI ART Institute at the Boston University School of Public Health; Dana Farber Cancer Institute; the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; and the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) at Harvard University.
Brenda has worked with institutions on strategic planning and engagement; public-private partnership building; interdisciplinary program & curricula development; program accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education; business development including fundraising and financial sustainability; communication strategies including social marketing; and mixed-methods program evaluation.
Prior to launching Emerging Health, Brenda was the Director of International Programs at the HGHI at Harvard University where she successfully worked with faculty across the Harvard schools and affiliated hospitals to expand HGHI’s global health research, including work in global infectious disease, in 15 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America to create new knowledge and catalyze fundamental research to improve human health. While at Harvard, Brenda was the honored recipient of the Harvard Administrative Fellowship.
Brenda previously served on the Advisory Board for the Howard University Hospital SBIRT Community Expansion Initiative and continues to serve as Executive Program Consultant at HU and Howard University Hospital. Brenda also served on the committee for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program Training at HU.
